(Fitzgerald, Georgia, August 30, 2012) – Arthur P. Barry III, SIOR with Coldwell Banker Commercial Eberhardt & Barry, Inc. of Macon, Georgia, brokered the sale of the former Shaw Industries manufacturing and distribution facility on Frank Road, Fitzgerald, Georgia, today. The purchaser was Veneer Products Company.
This facility was previously utilized by Dalton, Georgia based Shaw Industries as a specialty carpet fiber manufacturing facility and employed just under 100 employees through November 2007 when operations there closed. The twin Frank Road buildings contain 87,530± total square feet of office production and distribution warehouse space, located on 7.4 acres of land in the Ben Hill County Industrial Park.
The purchaser, Veneer Products Company, plans to utilize this acquired property for an expansion of their plywood & wood veneer products manufacturing in South Georgia. Southern Veneer Products Inc. is presently headquartered in Fitzgerald, Georgia and employs approximately 250 persons.
